September Newsletter

Greetings PSA Members,

Our Vendor Spotlight this month highlights the wisdom and entrepreneurial spirit of industry pioneer Mike Bruggerman, CEO of One Well World. Mike leads with passion and has deep experience in the spa world, we could have chatted for hours. One reflection from Mike stood out in particular:

"There is no such thing as work life balance - it's all life! Life is all about harmonizing, it is virtually impossible to bring all wellness dimensions into balance even some of the time. This work has never been just a career. It’s been a calling to create a better world, one step, one brand, one partnership at a time."

Many spa directors, owners, and wellness entrepreneurs can relate to Mike's perspective. Our work is not just a career, it's a calling. This is why we give so much of ourselves! We're not merely running businesses, we're here to serve, to enrich, to educate, and support. And in doing so, OUR lives are enriched and more meaningful as we guide others to experience our spas and our products. We are truly fortunate to be called!

When we think about what it means to be successful - both personally and professionally - its's not about drawing a hard line between work and life. Instead, it's about creating harmony, where one nourishes the other. True alignment happens when our personal purpose and our professional mission flow together.

If we find ourselves feeling out of sync or balance, (which happens often in our world today), perhaps the answer is to look to how we can harmonize, integrate and find a rhythm that supports our well-being. Thank you Mike for creating inspiration and thoughtful reflection!

Sending our best wishes to each of you,

Karen and Kimberly

Mike Bruggerman

CEO and Chief Formulation Officer, One Well World

Tell us about your One Well World. Are Haia Wellness and Organic Male under this umbrella?

It’s not a glamorous origin story—it’s a real one. Back in 2001, I co-owned a 15-room inn and added a day spa in 2002. Fast forward to 2018, as we began repositioning OM4 Organic Male and envisioning what would become haia Wellness, we made a conscious decision to rename the parent company One Well World.

That same year, we launched the One Well World Foundation, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to “Wellness in Action.” Today, both OM4 Organic Male and haia Wellness live under the One Well World umbrella. They’re distinct in voice and audience, but united in values: LOVE, LEARN, LEAD and LAUGH—care, curiosity, bold innovation, and joy in the process. We don’t just talk about wellness—we build it, live it, and lead with it.

You have a number of charitable partners in each of your six wellness dimensions, tell us more about that.

Our shorthand is: Six Dimensions. Six Partners. One Well World.

After deep reflection, we selected six A+ charitable partners that embody these dimensions and mirror the values we hold dear. Some of these choices are deeply personal. All are intentional.

Through our rewards program, customers can choose to donate points directly to any of these organizations—supporting global wellness in action. Together, we work to elevate wellness in all its forms, ensuring that transparency, authenticity, and impact remain central to everything we do.

As a leader in men's skin care, how do you envision men's skin care evolving? Talk about how your locker room amenities benefit spas.

I launched OM4 Organic Male in April of 2010. I believed men deserved the same depth and breadth of options available to women—but with a twist. Men’s skin is thicker, more prone to oil and inflammation, and shaped by distinct grooming habits and lifestyle factors. We designed OM4 to meet those needs head-on, with targeted regimens, clean formulations, and a masculine sensorial experience that felt authentic—not cosmetic.

Today, the men’s skincare market is no longer a footnote—it’s a force. As for the next chapter we continue to innovate. We built the lock-down locker room amenity stations early as men were not trying product in a retail area. We had to meet them where they were at, and because of the success we have units for both OM4 and haia, currently.

How has working in our industry influenced your life and personal journey?

As my dear friend and Board Member Dr. Doris Day once said, “It’s all life.” That line struck me deeply—because to me there is no such thing as work life balance. Life is all about harmonizing, it is virtually impossible to bring all wellness dimensions into balance even some of the time. It is daily and dynamic process. This work has never been just a career. It’s been a calling to create a better world, one step, one brand, one partnership at a time.

Growing up on an organic dairy farm in Wisconsin, I developed a deep love for nature, animals, and the outdoors. That connection still informs everything I do.

I love my work. I love my life. And I’m honored to support Pacific Spa Alliance members as a true business partner—elevating the industry's products and services with two distinct voices that resonate powerfully with today’s consumers. This isn’t just industry. It’s impact. And I’m all in.
