Donavan Almond
Owner & CEO, Donavan’s Wellness Solutions
Tell us about Donavan's Wellness Solutions.
DWS started out of my love of design, personal training and developing new programs. Over the last 12 years it has turned into an industry leading company that specializes in integrating high end hospitality fitness & wellness offerings into hotels, wineries, towns and corporations.
DWS is currently the largest wellness company in Napa and Sonoma Counties, offering over 600 fitness classes and 650 private sessions each month across multiple B2B partnerships and our two award-winning gyms, Calistoga Fit and Yountville Fit. We leverage these resources and experiences to develop exceptional wellness programs for individuals and businesses.
Has your mission changed as the wellness industry has evolved?
For the last decade, our mission has centered on two key principles: establishing wine country as a premier wellness destination and developing Napa County's up-valley into a 'Blue Zone.' While we have made significant strides, our work is far from over.
You partner with many spas and wellness destinations, what are you most excited about for 2026 to help your partners elevate their wellness programs?
We are launching three major initiatives in 2026 specifically designed to elevate our partners' programs and drive their success.
Creating a medical side to our business that offers blood work analysis with AI, IV therapies, and physical therapy modalities.
Collaborating with alliances like PSA and hosting industry events that provide data and tools to the hospitality wellness community.
Increasing awareness by partnering with marketing organizations like Visit Napa Valley and to make wellness a primary voice in their marketing budget.
What's a fun gem about you that you'd like to share with our members?
Once a month I will pull out my turntables and DJ some of our spin classes at Calistoga Fit.
I even have some music and audio workouts on Spotify that I made with a friend of mine in 2020. Look up Donavan Almond (the artist) on Spotify!
Boost and support your immune system!
It's that time of year when days are shorter and colder, and we find ourselves being indoors more often. We all know the right things to do: prioritize sleep, stay active, eat nutritious food, and manage stress, yet the holiday season can cause our best intentions to slip.
Supporting your immune system during these months means to focus on small sustainable habits to stay healthy and help prevent illness. When it comes to foods that best support the immune system during winter, here are some evidence-backed choices:
Citrus fruits - oranges, grapefruit and berries that are high in vitamin C and antioxidants.
Dark leafy greens - kale, spinach, collards, rich in vitamins A, C, K, folate and fiber.
Root vegetables, winter squash, sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts that provide beta-carotene and other immune-supporting nutrients.
Healthy fats from sources such as salmon, mackerel, nuts and seeds.
Fermented and probiotic-rich foods like yogurt, kefir and sauerkraut to support gut health.
Strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, and stay healthy during the holiday season!
