April Newsletter

Happy April PSA Members,

Many of you who attended ISPA will agree that it was a whirlwind of fabulous activity! There’s something truly special about reconnecting with old friends and familiar faces from around the world, people you haven’t seen in years. Again and again, the same sentiment came up: our industry, and the people who make it what it is, are simply incredible. Call it spa love!

We know everyone cannot attend or budget a big show like ISPA. This is why our regional shows are so important, and we hope you've marked your calendar for our Pacific Spa Alliance event on June 22nd in Napa!

In the meantime, here are some golden nuggets gleaned from the ISPA speakers that we hope you enjoy.

Trends Outside the Treatment Room

  • Contrast Therapy

  • Experiences

  • Taking home a memory

Therapist Retail Sales

  • Encourage therapists not to hone in on the transaction, but on how they make the person feel.

  • Build emotional connection with the guest.

  • Understand why the guest is here today, if you don't know, you don't have an opportunity to recommend.

Soundtracks, the longer you listen to certain thoughts the more they become soundtracks of your life. To change your mindset:

  • Retire the broken soundtracks

  • Replace them with new soundtracks

  • Repeat until automatic

A closing message from ISPA: Overthinking is stealing our productivity. Everyone is overthinking! Are you? Positivity has a great ROI. Practice it.

Sending our best to each of you,

Karen and Kimberly

Ali Denton, Founder, Intentional Goods

Tell our members about you and Intentional Goods.

Hello PSA members, I'm Ali, the founder of Intentional Goods! We create candles, room sprays and diffusers with premium grade ingredients and eco-friendly components in Sonoma County. We are a women owned and operated company, and all of our creations are made with purpose and care. Fun fact about me, I grew up in Bali and was exposed to the magic and beauty of that very special country. I loved watching all the rituals the Balinese performed to bring peace and presence to their day to day lives.

What inspired you to launch your business?

I launched the business with the intention of being fully transparent about ingredients. I wanted to create candles that were completely safe to burn and would be beautiful as well. I truly believe making something with your hands can open a whole new world of creativity and magic.

How do you stay creatively inspired?

I stay creativity inspired by being in nature. We use so many elements from the natural world and I love being out in the redwoods and smelling the freshness of the trees. I also stay creatively inspired by working with local business in creating a custom scent that truly encapsulates a business and making a candle that holds a signature scent.

Each month we highlight a new or seasonal product launch from one of our vendor partners.

This month we're featuring The Herbalist Collection from Laurel Skin which is making its long-awaited return!

First introduced in 2024, this herbal medicine chest for the skin replaces conventional synthetic actives - like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and ascorbic acid - with potent, 100% organic, whole plant alternatives. Six herbalist-created skin supplements, along with an educational booklet, inspire a deeper connection to plant medicine and offer support for adaptation, resilience, and longevity.
